Oil Rig Design Competition (ORDC) in IPFEST 2026 challenges participants to design an effective and innovative semi-submersible offshore oil rig by integrating multidisciplinary engineering principles. In the preliminary round, each team is required to submit a design blueprint that includes a brief explanation of the proposed oil rig concept. Judges may also provide additional requirements for this stage. The submitted blueprints will be evaluated, and the best eight teams will qualify for the final round. In the final stage, teams must submit presentation slides in advance. On the competition day, each team will deliver a presentation followed by a Q&A session, and the rig design will undergo three main tests: Load Test, Buoyancy Test, and Heave Test. The final ranking will be determined by the judges based on accumulated scores, with awards given to the top three teams and one favorite winner.
